The perfect circle pendant is composed of ancient Roman glass in a sterling
silver frame. The glass has iridescent hues that are unique in each piece.
The pendant dangles gently from a 16-inch strand of baby white pearls.
Archeological digs frequently unearth glass shards dating back to the
Roman Empire; jewelers may buy those pieces not of museum value. These
earrings come with a story card that explains the accumulation of color
over a period of up to 2000 years.
These distinctive pieces are made in a small, multi-ethnic studio near
Haifa, Israel. Israelis, Russian emigres, and Bedouin women have continued
to work together through the strife around them. Angie Olami, designer
of this set, writes that 'they are very heartened to see their work on
[Worldstock]. It makes them feel connected to a world that they feel quite
isolated from at the moment.'
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce slight variations
in color, form, and sizing. All measurements are approximate. Please
do not get your jewelry wet. Treat it as if it were 2,000 years old.
Avoid handling the glass: oils from your hands may alter the glass color
and remove its luster. Clean the silver with a cloth, but try not to rub
the ancient glass.
